SigmaNet has successfully participated in several projects:

• BalticGrid-II Project (01.05.2008 - 30.04.2010) – aimed to increase the impact, adoption and reach, and to further improve the support of services and users of the e-Infrastructure in the Baltic States and Belarus. The Project goals were achieved and development of the Grid infrastructure in Latvia continues within the framework of EGI-InSPIRE project.
   
• In 2009 IMCS UL had a contract with ENISA (European Network and Information Security Agency) to carry out a survey of CSIRT (Computer Security Incident Response Team) teams. The survey gathered information for ENISA experts related to the identification of and agreement on a minimum level of baseline capabilities and services for well-functioning National / Governmental CSIRTs and the establishment of well-functioning National / Governmental CSIRTs. Specific interest was paid to the capabilities of the targeted CSIRTs in the area of provided (and planned) services for their customer base, roles and activities carried out with regards to national NIS exercises, and information sharing and cooperation with other CSIRTs in other Member States and in third countries.
   
• In the framework of ERDF funded project “Grid computing environment: theory, methods, applications” SigmaNet has developed the Grid user support center where Grid users can receive technical advice and practical help as well as general information about Grid usage. In the framework of this project the Grid infrastructure in Latvia was developed, several scientific software were gridified and customizes Grid middleware solutions were developed.
   
• Porta Optica Study - a design study to draft dark fiber footprint in three Baltic countries, Ukraine, Belarus, and Moldova as well as Transcaucasia. The project was coordinated by Polish partner PIONEER and afterwards has resulted in several dark fiber based networks.
   
• Baltic Rural Broadband (BRB) project – to study broadband feasibility and coverage in the rural areas in the countries around the Baltic Sea. There were partners from 11 countries in the BRB project.
   
• BalticGrid project - the European Union sponsored I3 project that aimed to extend the European Grid by integrating new partners from the Baltic States (Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia) in the European Grid research community.
   
• GN2 project – EU funded Project to run the GÉANT2 network and to carry out several related research activities.
